In the early fall of 2007 BYU football coach Bronco Mendenhall and a few of his players produced a video clip directed at the fans. In the video Coach Mendenhall stated, “We’re FULLY INVESTED in BYU football.” He then followed up with a challenge to the fans, “We expect you to be; convince us that you are.”

When avid BYU fan and cyclist/endurance athlete Tim Loomis saw the video he took the coach’s challenge
to heart and applied Bronco’s “Raise the Bar”
mentality to come up with a truly unique way to show
his level of investment in Cougar Football. He decided
that he not only would attend the games wearing
blue, but that he and his follow Cougar-loving cycling partners would ride their bikes to Las Vegas to a BYU
vs. UNLV game on October 13, 2007.

It didn’t take much to convince Garn Jensen, Ty Webber, and Steve Albrecht in the 450 miles trip and after much planning and more than a few epic days of cycling the annual Garner D. Jensen Charity Cycle Tour was born.
